For Grown-ups

This page practices counting skills from the Common Core math standards for kindergarten and grade 1:

  • Say one number for each object (one-to-one counting) and know the last number tells how many (K.CC.B.4).
  • Count to answer "how many?" for up to 20 things in a line or array (K.CC.B.5).
  • See 11 to 19 as ten ones and some more ones (K.NBT.A.1, 1.NBT.B.2).

Try it: have your child touch each bug while counting out loud. Ask, "How many?" after the last one.
